About Us

Four generations, one workshop, and an unbroken love for solid wood — this is the story of the hands behind every CAPOARTI piece.

1950s

Early History

Our journey started in the early 1950s when our grandfather Ivan was manufacturing and repairing parts of wooden wagons used for transport and farming in the local community. Strong will and crafty hands helped him overcome a lack of machinery and led him to establish himself as a local wooden artisan. He later built his very own small workshop next to his birth house in the middle of the rich wine region of Vipavska dolina. The strong winemaking tradition inspired him to expand and begin making and selling wooden wine barrels. With great consistency and hard work, he gradually equipped the workshop with the essential machinery and tools needed to raise product quality.

Second Generation

With a solid foundation built by his father, Robert was next to take over the family business. From a very young age he spent his afternoons in the workshop, and Ivan passed on all of his skills and knowledge. With the passion and love for wood he inherited, Robert pushed the business to a whole new level, focusing on wooden furniture for some of the biggest German and Italian merchants in the sector. With his products sold internationally — from Tokyo, Japan to Los Angeles, USA — Robert knew he was on the right path and that people truly value and appreciate his work.

Today

Capoarti

Over the years carpentry has become our family tradition. Just like their father before them, the two sons Timotej and Domen had a love for woodworking laid into their cradle. Working in the workshop and seeing other companies take the credit for their father's hard work sparked the idea for our very first online store — the one you are visiting now. Offering you the best value by buying directly from our hands makes us truly happy. With every product bought, we also plant one tree together with our reforestation partner onetreeplanted.org, an organization devoted to sustainable forests worldwide. Thank you for making it possible.
